Workshop on Building Resilience and Managing Stress Held at SRMIST

The Department of Clinical Psychology, SRMIST, in collaboration with the NSS Cell (School of Computing – Unit 3) and the University Wellness Program, conducted a workshop titled “Building Resilience and Managing Stress” on 18 July 2025 at Turing Hall, 8th Floor, Tech Park, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur.

The three-hour session, held from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, was attended by around 25 faculty members from SRM Institute of Science and Technology and SRM Medical and Health Sciences. The primary objective of the workshop was to promote mental well-being and equip participants with practical tools to manage stress and build resilience.

The workshop was divided into three focused segments:

Hour 1: Introduction to stress, including its causes, effects, and personal triggers

Hour 2: Self-assessment using validated stress measurement tools

Hour 3: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques through guided practices

The session was facilitated by Ms. Sangavi Soundarajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology. The workshop was supported and guided by Dr. Bhasi Sukumaran, Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.

The event was coordinated by Dr. T. Lakshmanan (NSS Programme Advisor), Dr. V. Prakash (NSS Programme Coordinator), and Dr. G. Manoj Kumar (NSS Programme Officer). The session concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Dr. K. Maheswari (NSS Programme Officer).

The workshop saw active participation and positive engagement from attendees. It marked a step toward fostering a supportive environment for mental health and well-being within the institution.
