The Value Education Cell at our university seeks to instil various initiatives to inspire and empower students and staffs to embrace universal human values, applying them in their personal and professional lives.
SRMIST - Value Education Cell (VEC)
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) recognizes the urgent need to nurture socially responsible, self-aware, and harmonious individuals through holistic value-based education. This aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Universal Human Values (UHV) framework recommended by AICTE. The Value Education Cell (VE Cell) is established to coordinate this transformative agenda at all levels of the university ecosystem.

Vision
The Value Education Cell at SRMIST envision to evolve the university from value education to value-based education and value-based living. Its long-term vision is to develop SRMIST as a model university, a national nodal centre, and a global resource hub for value education. The Cell aims to create a supportive and transformative learning environment through self-exploration, where students develop academic excellence alongside a deep sense of social responsibility. By building a campus culture rooted in Satya (realization of truth), Karuna (compassion), and Prema (love for all), the Cell aspires to contribute to holistic societal transformation and uphold universal human values in all aspects of life.
Mission
The Mission of the Value Education Cell is to integrate value education seamlessly into the core fabric of the University’s Academic, curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular (extension) and administrative activities by 2030. The Cell strives to create an environment of meaningful relationships through personal transformation among students, faculty, and staff, with the aim of promoting holistic development and a shared commitment to universal values by 2030.
Motto
The SRMIST Value Education Cell, with its Motto ‘Wellbeing for All,’ is committed to promoting Holistic Value-Based Education, not just within the university but extending it to the broader community.
Individual
Develop a Right understanding towards the clarity on the purpose of life and help oneself to identify their basic aspirations. To enhance Self-Awareness, engage in Self-Directed Learning, and build Self-Confidence.
Family
Positively influenced people with Right Feeling such as Empathy, Compassion, Trust and respect for all. To improve relationships within their own families and their college communities, facilitating effective conflict resolution.
Society
Cultivates responsible individuals inclined towards positive societal contributions, development of personal traits like Humility, Integrity, and Adaptability. To bring in a collective culture of fearless society and nurtures a harmonious and thriving community.
Nature
Focus on nature and coexistence, yields impactful outcomes such as Environmentally responsible practices, sustainability. To adopt the best environmental practices, nurturing harmony between human activities and the natural world.

Welcome to Value Education Cell
Value education remains a significant need of the hour in today’s world. In the digital age, individuals navigate through this abundance of information and bombarded with information and get influenced easily. Technological advancements, medical breakthroughs, and social changes often create dilemmas. The fast-paced and competitive nature of modern life can lead to stress and mental health issues.
Education should help an individual to develop clarity on understanding (what to do?) & learning skills (how to do?) and practicing the understanding & skills will lead towards the fulfillment of human purpose.
As societies become more diverse, value education fosters inclusivity, respect for everyone and towards everything and promotes social cohesion and harmony.
Value education emphasizes the importance of self-regulation and equips individuals with the process of self-exploration it plays a crucial role in preventing social issues like violence, substance abuse, and discrimination and helps individuals to analyse and respond to these situations.

- To live with the feeling of a relationship with the human being leads to mutual happiness.
- To live in a relationship with rest-of-nature leads to mutual prosperity.
The Value Education Cell at our university is to foster the holistic development of individuals by nurturing a strong foundation of values that will guide them throughout their lives. Over a period of time, such value-based education can contribute to the development of a humane society.

Objectives
Promoting Universal Human Values: The primary objective is to promote and instil universal human values such as Co-existence, Harmony and feelings of relationship, prosperity, self-regulation, social responsibility and mutual fulfilment with rest of the nature among, faculty, and staff.
Curriculum Integration: Integrating value-based education modules into the university’s curriculum across various disciplines, ensuring that students are exposed to values considerations in their academic pursuits.
Solution centric approach: Providing guidance and training to students in making decisions for fulfilling life, equipping them to navigate complex situations with integrity.
Social Awareness and Empathy: Creating awareness about social issues and encouraging students to empathize with others’ experiences, leading to a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and participate into societal transformation though foundational systems
Cultivating Responsible Citizenship: Instilling a sense of responsibility towards oneself, family, society and nature and motivating them to actively contribute to just and equitable society.
Inclusivity and Diversity: Promoting an inclusive campus culture that embraces diversity, and promote intercultural understanding, fostering a sense of unity and harmony among the university community.
Leadership Development: Offering leadership development programs that emphasize the world-view, world-view, human values and through human conduct
Faculty Development: Offer training and development opportunities for faculty members to effectively impart value-based teachings in their classrooms and mentor students on Understanding the concepts (proposal) through self-investigation.
Student Development: Organize workshops, seminars, and events that promote character development and human consciousness among students.
Community Engagement: Encouraging students to participate in community service, volunteering, and outreach activities to cultivate a sense of responsibility towards the society they live in.
Research and Advocacy: Conducting research on value education, ethics, and social issues, and advocating for the integration of universal human values in education and beyond.
Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborating with other departments, student organizations, NGOs and external partners to create a holistic approach to leverage knowledge and resources for a broader impact
Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of value education initiatives to continuously improve and refine the programs to meet the evolving needs of the university community.
