On August 23, 2023, in celebration of the 84th birthday of Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Chancellor of SRM University, the Euphoria Forum of the Social Work Department, in collaboration with the NSS Unit and the District Forest Department, organized a tree sapling plantation event at P.U.M. School in Vadapathi village near Mamandur, Chengalpattu district. The event saw the planting of 84 varieties of saplings on the school campus, symbolizing the Chancellor’s age and commitment to environmental preservation.

This initiative aimed to raise environmental awareness among students and foster a sense of responsibility toward tree planting. Esteemed attendees included Dr. A. Duraisamy, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities (FSH); Dr. S. Albert Antony Raj, Deputy Dean; Dr. Mathew Arumai, Head of the Social Work Department, SRMIST; Dr. R. M. Krishnakumari, Medical Officer, SRM Rural Health Centre; Mr. Gopa Kumar, Forest Ranger, Kanchipuram Forest Department; Dr. T. Lakshmanan, NSS Program Coordinator, SRM University; and Ms. Justine Antoniammal, Headmistress of P.U.M. School, Vadapathi, Mamandur. These dignitaries, along with first- and second-year students from the Social Work Department, participated in the ceremonial planting, making the day a memorable contribution to environmental sustainability.
