Team Camber Racing, the Formula Student combustion team from the Department of Automobile Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has marked a historic run at SUPRA SAEINDIA 2025 held at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, by securing multiple prestigious honors and a first-ever technical milestone.
On 13 August 2025, Camber Racing achieved a breakthrough by becoming one of only four teams to clear the Mechanical Inspection on the very first attempt—a first in the team’s 16-year history. This success underscored their technical preparedness, meticulous design practices, and commitment to engineering excellence.
Just days later, on 18 August 2025, the team’s hard work translated into top national honors as they clinched First Place in Engineering Design and First Place in Business Presentation among 48 participating teams across the country. Their vehicle also earned the distinction of being the lightest car of the competition, weighing only 191 kg (dry weight)—a testament to their innovation, structural optimization, and efficiency without compromising safety or performance.
Founded in 2009 under the mentorship of Dr. Leenus Jesu Martin, Camber Racing has built nine race cars, secured 26 awards, and won the national championship title twice. Comprising undergraduate students from various disciplines, the team blends academic knowledge with hands-on motorsport engineering experience, strengthening skills in teamwork, project management, and innovation.
SUPRA SAEINDIA, a premier student motorsport competition, challenges engineering students to conceptualize, design, fabricate, and race formula-style cars through rigorous static and dynamic events. By excelling in both technical and business fronts this year, Camber Racing has not only reaffirmed its engineering brilliance but also set a new benchmark for student innovation in motorsport engineering.
