In a remarkable display of endurance, teamwork, and social commitment, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST-KTR), through its Directorate of Sports, has set its 7th NOVA World Record in India’s national game, hockey. Organised as part of the celebrations for the birthday of the Pro Chancellor (Admin), this achievement also carried a deeper purpose: to raise awareness about anti-drug initiatives among youth and the sporting community.
The event saw continuous hockey action for 25 hours, beginning at 9:10 AM on July 11, 2025, and concluding at 10:10 a.m. on July 12, 2025, at the SRMIST-KTR campus. Over 50 hockey players took part in this endurance challenge, executing the maximum number of hockey shots and goalkeeping defences throughout the duration of the event.
Officials from NOVA World Records monitored the attempt closely and officially confirmed the record at 10:30 a.m. on July 12, 2025.
This latest record stands as a testament to SRMIST’s unwavering commitment to sports excellence, social responsibility, and the power of collective effort. Through this initiative, SRMIST celebrates the spirit of hockey and reinforces its message of leading a drug-free, healthy, and active lifestyle.
“It’s not just about setting records; it’s about setting examples,” said representatives from the Directorate of Sports, emphasising how sports can be a powerful platform for positive social impact.
With this achievement, SRMIST is still motivating students and athletes alike, championing values of resilience, teamwork, and responsibility, on and off the field.
