SRM Students Excel in Kavach Hackathon 2023, Securing the Cash prize of 1 Lakh

In a remarkable display of technological prowess, Second-year students from the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Second year-AIML) program achieved a remarkable feat at the recently concluded “Kavach Hackathon-2023.” The event, held between 7th August and 10th, August 2023, was organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MoE’s IC), in collaboration with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The six brilliant minds behind this remarkable achievement are Ms. Aahanaa Sharrma, Mr. Vishruth R, Mr. Daksh Kanotra, Mr. Srinivasan Sridhar, Mr. Anirudh Arcot, and Ms. Devangana Ghosh. Together, they formed a powerhouse team mentored by Assistant Professor, CINTEL, SRMIST Dr. Gopirajan PV not only secured the first place but also walked away with the prestigious cash award of Rs.1, 00,000.

Their winning solution, developed as a web browser plugin, addresses a pressing issue in the digital world – the proliferation of obscene media, including images, videos, and audio content. The students’ ingenious solution enables users to identify and block such content at their end, contributing to a safer online environment for all. Moreover, the plugin is equipped with a feature that alerts the relevant authorities in the event of such content spreading, ensuring swift action to curb its dissemination.

Professor and Head, Department of Computational Intelligence, SRMIST, Dr. Annie Uthra expressed their pride in the team’s remarkable achievement, highlighting the dedication, commitment, and expertise that the students demonstrated throughout the hackathon.

In her remarks, Chairperson, School of Computing, SRMIST, Dr. Revathi Venkataraman said, “This victory is a testament to the potential of our young minds and the quality of education provided at SRMIST. We are extremely proud of our students, for their outstanding performance and their invaluable contribution to the field of cyber security.”

The hackathon concluded on August 10, 2023, the six victorious students are now celebrated not only as winners but also as torchbearers of innovation and excellence. Their accomplishment continues to resonate, serving as a beacon of inspiration for future generations and underscoring the power of collaborative problem-solving in addressing the challenges of the modern digital age.
