SRM IHM Hosts 33rd Annual Fresher’s Induction Programme

The 33rd Fresher’s Induction Programme of the SRM Institute of Hotel Management was successfully held on 31st July 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dr. T.P. Ganesan Auditorium.

The event was graced by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of SRM IST, Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, who felicitated the distinguished guests and delivered an inspiring Presidential Address, welcoming the freshers and emphasizing the importance of professionalism and adaptability in the hospitality industry.

The Chief Guest, Mr. D. Venkatesan, Regional Director (South), India Tourism, Government of India, delivered the Chief Guest’s Address, highlighting the evolving trends in Indian tourism and the growing demand for skilled hospitality professionals.

Ms. Shiny Cynthia Grace, Training Manager, The Westin, Chennai, Velachery, shared her valuable insights on the advantages of pursuing a career in the hotel industry. She spoke about the industry’s resilience, adaptability, and the evolving work environment that now prioritizes employee well-being and professional growth.

Three distinguished alumni of SRM IHM were invited to share their experiences:

Chef Cheruba Charis, Celebrity Chef, motivated the freshers to pursue excellence, creativity, and commitment in their careers.
Ms. Sakshi Mathur, Associate Director, DIL Foods, encouraged students to explore emerging roles in the evolving food and hospitality space.
Ms. Sornadurga, The Facility Manager, ISS – Batch of 2013, delivered an inspiring speech on the vast range of opportunities and diverse roles the industry offers, based on her personal journey.

Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar, Mentor and former Director of SRM IHM, addressed the gathering with reflections from his 44-year-long career, sharing how the hospitality industry shaped his life and career with purpose and global opportunities.

The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. J. Lalitha Shri, Vice Principal, SRM Institute of Hotel Management, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, faculty, and students for making the event a memorable success.
