Mess Rules

  • Once a student joins the hostel, he / she is deemed to have become a member of the mess until he / she vacates the hostel officially
  • No change of mess is permissible
  • The mess is run by the management
  • Strict discipline should be maintained in the dining hall
  • Menu will be displayed on the notice board. Changes can be made based on the decision of mess committee.
  • Day scholars will not be entertained as guests in the mess
  • Inmates can entertain their parents as guests on prior information to the hostel authorities. The guest rate is Rs.80/- for breakfast, Rs. 100/- for Veg lunch, Rs. 40/- for Tea/Snacks & Rs. 100/-  for dinner respectively. For special lunch/dinner the rate is Rs. 150/-.
  • Food will not be served in rooms and the inmates are not supposed to take food to their rooms. If an inmate is ill, the deputy warden will make suitable arrangements.
  • The inmates should not enter the kitchen
  • Wasting food is a crime. No diner shall waste food. Paying mess bill does not entitle a diner to waste food. If any student is found wasting food he / she will be fined Rs 500/- for the first time. If the same student is found repeating the same mistake he / she will be expelled from the hostel.
  • The system of self service will be followed in all the mess
  • The quantity of food will be unlimited except in the case of special items
  • All diners shall produce ID card and Mess card to dine every time in the mess
  • Unauthorized people and non hostelers seen in the dining hall without receipts of payment will be charged a fine of Rs.2000/-

Canteens

SRMIST Food Joint, Fast Food & Super Market

Location: Adjacent to the Main Entrance (Near gate No 4, Opp to the Potheri Railway Station)
Timing: 7.00 am to 5.00 pm
A restaurant type of building is a favorite eat out for most of the faculty members and the students. The tempting smell of delicious food from the canteen attracts the students and the faculty members. In the morning they serve dosa, poori, pongal, idly, samosa, puff and vada. During lunch, they serve variety rice, full meals, biryani, chapatti and paratha. Students can buy chocolates, cool drinks, and ice creams all the time. Tea, coffee and snacks are available throughout the working hours.

Location: Ground Floor of the University Building

Timing: 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM

With the capacity of over 150 students this canteen serves poori, pongal, idly, samosa, puff and vada. During lunch, they serve variety rice, limited meals, biryani, fried rice, chapatti and paratha. Students can buy chocolates, cool drinks, and ice creams all the time.

At the 5th and 8th floors of the University building two small outlets of the Canteen are functioning to cater to the needs of students and faculty members.

Location: Ground Floor of the Tech Park building

Timing: 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM

Location: Near the clock tower

Time: 7.30 am to 8.00 pm

This is like a mini food street inside the campus where one can get a variety of food items and beverages. In terms of price, it is affordable and pocket friendly. This place has around 20 stalls with all kinds of food. Every stall has some good dishes to taste. Shawarma, aloo paratha, chicken biryani, deserts, coffee etc are a delight to taste. Subway offers a variety of pizzas too.

Location: Opposite Labour ward in the SRM Hospital

Timing: 7.30 am to 4.30 pm

Location: Fourth floor of the Medical College

Timing: 7.30 am to 8.30 pm

The canteen is exclusive for the final year MBBS students.

Location: Behind Dental College

Timing: 7.30 am to 4.30 pm

This canteen is almost at the end of the campus and has the same menu as the other canteens. In the morning they serve poori, pongal, idly, samosa, puff and vada. During lunch, they serve variety rice, limited meals, chapatti and paratha. Students can buy chocolates, cool drinks, and ice creams all the time.

Accommodating up to 100 guests, Slice of Life is ideal for everything from a quick bite to a leisurely meal. Our diverse menu includes breakfast items, rice dishes, biryani, meals, fried rice, tandoori, barbecue, freshly baked goods, chaat snacks, and a variety of beverages such as juices, milkshakes, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and whatnot. 

For those with a sweet tooth or craving comfort food, we also offer delicious sweets, pizza, and burgers. Slice of Life Café invites you to drop by and enjoy a delightful experience where every moment is a celebration of good food and great company.

The Madras Café is providing canteen facility to the students, teaching, non-teaching staff and to the patients who visit the Medical College. It can cater to the demands of the students and other visitors and can accommodate around 150 persons at a time. This canteen takes care to provide a nutritious and hygienic food at a nominal cost. A variety of food and snack items which includes South and North Indian items, Variety Rice, tiffin varieties, snacks, coffee/tea etc are served here.

The Royal Café Canteen

Location 1: Near Valliammai Engineering College entrance

Location 2: Opp to the SRM College of Pharmacy (Behind VEC)

Timing: 7.30 am to 4.30 pm

Its location near the entrance and near Pharmacy and SRM Arts & Science College keeps the canteen busy throughout the day. All essential food items are served throughout the day.
