The SRM College of Nursing, under the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), hosted its Induction Ceremony for Freshers – 2025 on August 1, 2025, at the Hippocrates Auditorium, 3rd Floor, SRM Medical College, Kattankulathur. The event marked the formal initiation of new students into the academic and professional journey of nursing.
This year’s ceremony welcomed the 34th Batch of B.Sc Nursing, 33rd Batch of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM), 21st Batch of M.Sc Nursing, 17th Batch of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, 6th Batch of M.Sc Nursing Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC), and 6th Batch of Post Basic Diploma in Nursing Specialities.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Nithin M. Nagarkar, Dean (Medical) and Pro Vice Chancellor (Medical and Health Sciences), SRMIST, who emphasized the academic rigor and compassion expected of every nursing student.
We were privileged to welcome Dr. Fabiola M Dhanaraj, Principal, Meenakshi College of Nursing, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, as the Chief Guest. Her inspiring address highlighted the evolving role of nurses and the need for both clinical skill and ethical integrity.
Prof. (Dr.) Helen Shaji J.C., Dean of SRM College of Nursing, extended a warm welcome and shared the institution’s vision, achievements, and the unique opportunities offered to students.
The event also featured special addresses by senior administrators, the ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, parent feedback, and a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) R. Vijayalakshmi, Vice Principal. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, symbolizing unity and purpose.
This induction sets the tone for a transformative academic journey, as students step into their roles as future healthcare leaders trained at one of India’s premier nursing institutions.
