Overview

The Nanotechnology Research Centre (NRC) was established in 2006 at SRMIST (Kattankulathur) as a cutting-edge, multidisciplinary endeavour at the forefront of science and technology. Our mission is to address global challenges in energy, environment, and healthcare by harnessing the potential of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The Centre’s experimental research is supported by leading edge modelling, visualization and theory through its access to state-of-the-art characterisation, fabrication, manipulation and design laboratories. NRC maintains robust connections with the wider nanotechnology and commercial communities, actively engaging in numerous significant collaborations, both on a national and international level. NRC is at the forefront of nanotechnology training and educating the public and bringing transparency to this far-reaching and emerging science.

Our centre provides state of the art laboratory for synthesizing and characterizing wide range of materials such as thin films, polymers and inorganic nanocrystals to widen the horizons in the field of nanotechnology.

Facilities

NRC offers cutting-edge services in the exploration and advancement of nanotechnology products across various research domains. Advanced instrumentation, including XRD, FESEM, XPS, Impedance spectroscopy, GC-MS, FTIR, AFM, was utilized to analyze and evaluate the structural, morphological, elemental compositional, electronic, resistive properties, as well as the thermoelectric characteristics. Therefore, NRC offers valuable data and results that contribute significantly to the advancement of research and development.

  • The research focus of NRC is on the development of thin films and nanomaterials in emerging areas such as Thermoelectric, gas sensors, hydrogen production, solar cell, photocatalysis and several other applications providing outcomes as publications in several high impact factor journals. Our researchers have presented their work in several research forums and received several accolades in reputed academic conferences.
