Research Focus

The following four Polyherbal formulations have been developed and are being subjected to clinical trials:

  • Preclinical and Clinical evaluation of safety and efficacy of Herbal/Herbo-mineral formulations ( Phase I & Phase II Clinical Trial), Ayurvedic Biology, Identification of Herbal nano carriers in Novel Drug Delivery System, Development of Phytosomal formulations to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Cancer, Pharmacogenomics in Ayurveda, Phyto formulation development in Ayurveda, Pharmacovigilance in Ayurveda, Validation of Ayurgenomics, Standardisation & Validation of Classical Ayurvedic formulations, Innovative protocol development in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

  • Developing cost effective high throughput screening techniques to deconvolute the role of active ingredient(s) present in a poly herbal formulation. Enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of traditional herbal medicines using synthetic and biocatalytic processes. Investigate the remedial effect of phyto medicines in modulating the immune system via epigenome.

  • Synthetic Organic chemistry, Isolation of phytochemical markers from natural source by conventional column chromatography and Preparative HPLC techniques. Modification of functional groups in natural products. HPLC, HPTLC method development & validation for Natural & synthetic products. Nano-particle synthesis using plant sources. Identification of chemicals by plant root exudates through hydroponic method. Structural characterization of organic molecules by NMR & LC-MS-MS techniques.

  • Purification of proteins from plants source by chromatography techniques. (ii) Proteins crystallization using hanging drop and sitting drop vapor diffusion methods. (iii) X-ray intensity data collection using mar345 image plate detector and data processing programs, namely Scale pack and AUTOMAR and Imosflm. (iv) Structure determination with Phenix and CCP4 suites software. Operation of high field FT-NMR spectrometer experiments in liquid and solid state. (v) Small and Macro molecules, 3D Structure determination using NMR, X-ray spectroscopy and theoretical calculation (DFT method). (vi) NMR probe development using Li-ion battery.

  • Drug discovery and development of new molecules from natural resource. Medical Entomology & Antimalarial Therapy. Bio-compounds from Medicinal plant/ seaweeds/ Bio-resources. Nano-biotechnology.
