  • SRMIST has established state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge laboratories and highly sophisticated instruments to provide an environment conducive to holistic learning and ground breaking research including Single Crystal XRD facility, XPS, etc. which are recently procured.
  • We have been granted the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) BioNEST through the Department of Biotechnology with a funding value of Rs. 10 Crores. This focused Grant will facilitate start-ups in health-tech and med-tech domains and provide them with the necessary support to take their products to market. The BioNEST office space is will be set up in the SRM Medical College.
  • The Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (DEI) has also been shortlisted for the SPARSH initiative through the BIRAC for helping founders who are working on social entrepreneurial ventures with a fund value of Rs 1.7 Crores
  • We have been supporting faculty members with a total funding of Rs. 2 crore per year under the Selective Excellence Research Initiative (SERI) with a maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs per faculty member. This will help the newly joined faculty members with no funded projects to carry out preliminary research ideas that transform into novel findings.
  • SRMIST also supports faculty members with seed money depending on their areas of expertise to establish their labs
  • The Department of Telecommunication under the Ministry of Communications has rolled out the ‘100 5G labs initiative’ – an endeavor to use opportunities associated with 5G technology. Such a 5G-use case lab will soon be installed at SRMIST as announced by the Honourable Prime Minister that will promote the design and development of 5G applications that cater both to India’s unique needs as well as global demands.
  • We have been collaborating through joint publications with reputed International Institutions from more than 150 countries. This has resulted in signing MoUs with more than 125 Universities abroad.
  • Department of Civil Engineering received project title “Enabling of Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles for Private and Public Institutes” by the funding agency National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), Ministry of Textiles, Govt.of India, sanctioned amount Rs. 5 crores.
  • The Nature Index 2025 survey placed SRM Institute of Science and Technology 2nd among the Private Universities and 19th overall in India for its institutional outputs from 1st February 2024– 31st January 2025 in recognition of the efforts in publishing quality research works in Nature-Indexed Journals.
  • SRMIST secured 3rd position in UI Green Metric Ranking in 2022 and maintaining 3rd places for the past 3 years, we have a dedicated Green Initiatives and Environmental Sustainable Development CELL.
  • 36 Scientists with SRMIST affiliation were identified among the Top 2% most cited Scientists in their research fields in year 2024, as per survey undertaken by Elsevier BV (Elsevier-Stanford University initiative)
  • SRMIST secured DST-PURSE project for the proposal entitled “Establishment of Holistic Electric Mobility Infrastructure and Supporting Networks to Promote Research and Start-ups towards National Electric Mobility” supported with 13. 63 crores. 
  • Boots trappers Research Council (BRC) that governs the entrepreneurial activities of SRM Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre (SIIEC) has been selected by the Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) and sanctioned amount Rs. 3 crore
  • Ministry of Health & Family welfare approved for “conducting National family Health survey – round 6   for the state Tamil Nadu (North and Puducherry)-Phase I”, Sanctioned amount Rs. 7.50 crore
