About the Department
The Bachelor of Optometry (B. Optom) is a 4 year degree program focused on the study of Optometry. The curriculum is designed to impart knowledge related to eye and it’s connected organs, the correction of refractive errors, and the treatment and management of eye diseases. This degree comprises four years of education including one year of clinical internship at our tertiary care hospital. This degree is the minimum required qualification to be called as an optometrist, and to practice optometry (which includes tasks like prescribing spectacles, contact lenses, eye medicines etc) in India and around the world.
Eligibility for B. Optom Optometry
- Age : Completion of 17 years on or before 31st December of year of Admission
- Qualification : HSC / 10+2 / Plus two or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology / Botany & Zoology
- Percentage of Marks : Minimum 50 % aggregate of marks in PCB / PCM
- Candidate must possess both Physical and Mental fitness to undergo the academic course and does not suffer from any intellectual disability or contagious disease.
