Milan: SRMIST’s 17th Cultural Fest Begins with a Grand Inauguration

Milan 2025, the signature cultural festival of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), opened to a packed audience today, setting the stage for four days of artistic expression and cultural celebration.

The inauguration, held on April 3 at 6:30 PM, was graced by the actor Atharvaa Murali, who expressed his admiration for the students’ enthusiasm and the festival’s vibrant energy.

Milan 2025, with the theme “Celebrate Diversity Through Art and Dance: Where Heritage Meets Harmony”, united around 50,000 students from across the country in a celebration of culture, creativity, and artistic expression.

The grand extravaganza, spanning from April 3 to April 6, 2025, features over 40 club events and two spectacular pro shows with a total prize pool of Rs. 8+ lakhs, drawing in thousands of talented participants.

During the inauguration, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor of SRM Groups, shared, “As one of the nation’s largest multidisciplinary universities, SRM recognises that cultivating well-rounded individuals requires more than just academic rigour. We believe cultural and extracurricular activities are essential for students to develop into multi-dimensional leaders.”

Later, actor Atharvaa expressed his admiration for the institution, sharing that he once aspired to study at SRM but instead made his way here as the Chief Guest. 

Milan 2025 stands out as a festival for the students, by the students. Under the dynamic leadership of the Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) at SRMIST, students have played a pivotal role in organising and executing the event, from planning to coordination.

The night came alive with an electrifying performance by Thaikkudam Bridge, the internationally acclaimed 15-member rock band renowned for their fusion of Indian folk, classical, and global music influences. 

With over 650 shows in 25 countries, their hit albums Navarasam (2016) and Namah (2019) have captivated audiences worldwide.

The excitement continues on April 4, with a pro show by Indian Percussionist Sivamani and Flutist Naveen Kumar, along with National Film Award-winning music director and playback singer Thaman S. Known for his work in blockbuster films like Dookudu (2011), Race Gurram (2014), and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), Thaman has left an indelible mark on the Indian music industry.

On April 5, the stage will be set for Naslen and his crew, the Alappuzha-based Ging Gang, promising a night of high-energy entertainment.

The festival will conclude on April 6 with a valedictory ceremony featuring actress Kayadu Lohar, known for her role in the movie ‘Dragon’.

With an incredible lineup of performances, competitions, and cultural showcases, Milan 2025 is set to be an unforgettable celebration of talent, diversity, and artistic excellence.

Milan 2025 – Day 2: Pro Show Highlights

On April 4, 2025, Milan 2025 hosted a Pro Show featuring Indian percussionist Sivamani, flutist Naveen Kumar, and National Film Award-winning music director and playback singer Thaman S.

Sivamani and Naveen Kumar opened the evening with a set that showcased their skills in percussion and flute, creating a strong start to the night.

Following them, Thaman S took the stage, performing some of his most popular songs from films like Dookudu (2011), Race Gurram (2014), Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), and OG (2025). He energised the crowd with his hit tracks, keeping the students engaged and singing along.

Day 2 of Milan 2025 was marked by strong performances and enthusiastic participation, making it a memorable event for all who attended.
