SRM Professor Joins Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board for Conservation and Sustainability 2023

Dr. S. Geetha, Associate Professor (Biochemistry) & Head, Department of Basic Sciences, SRM College of Agricultural Sciences, has been selected as a member of the Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board was constituted under Section 22 of the Biological Diversity Act 22 in Government Order. Ms. No.438, Environment and Forests, with a vision of conservation and sustainable use of India’s rich biodiversity and associated knowledge with people’s participation, ensures the process of benefit sharing for the well-being of present and future generations.

Dr. S. Geetha, being an expert in Plant Biochemistry and ecological studies has done her doctoral research in biochemical and ecological impact Studies in Plants. Her current area of research is on Miyawaki Plantations with a focus on its environmental and impact on Biodiversity of the ecological system. She had conducted many awareness programmes for promoting organic practices for Sustainable farming and for conserving the natural resources. Being a part of SRM College of Agricultural Sciences, her inputs to the TNBB will be towards working along with the Board for conservation of Natural resources and Biodiversity for a sustainable ecosystem.
