It’s our firm belief at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), that to enhance the skills of our students, they must be provided with opportunities to explore their creativity. Cultural programs are organized several times during the year to encourage creative pursuits and nurture talent. Students form teams and share responsibility in organizing the events.
Milan
A four-day national-level inter-college cultural festival, characterized by a footfall of 50,000+ students, encompasses a diverse array of over 100 competitions and high-caliber pro shows, including DJ nights, live music performances, and comedy nights featuring top-tier artists. This event draws participants from various states and districts, fostering a rich exchange of talent and cultural diversity.
Shuru
Shuru is a talent hunt festival organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, featuring a range of competitions in various cultural art forms, including dance, music, creative arts, dramatics, fashion etc, specifically designed for first-year students from all departments. Additionally, the event includes host performances by clubs to enhance the entertainment experience for newcomers.
Jhalak
Jhalak is an intracollege cultural event where students from diverse academic departments within the university showcase their talents. This event features participation from eight distinct houses, namely Agni, Astra, Brahmos, Nag, Prithvi, Aakash, Shaurya, and Trishul, who compete in various cultural activities.
Rendezvous
Rendezvous is a club showcase event, representing approximately 16 diverse clubs encompassing areas such as dance, music, fashion, and dramatics. This event is dedicated to welcoming and engaging new students and is conducted by the Directorate of Student Affairs.
Butterflies
Butterflies, an altruistic undertaking by the Directorate of Student Affairs seeks to instill inspiration and motivation in underprivileged children regarding education. This initiative offers a platform for students from government schools to exhibit their skills in sports, culture, literature, and more. It’s a day brimming with enjoyable activities, competitions, and rewards, with approximately 500 students taking part every year .
Celebrations
All major Indian festivals are celebrated in the campus with complete enthusiasm and enjoyment. Lushing lunches are explicitly made in students’ hostels to mark these festivities and to give the students a taste of the region’s culinary traditions.
