Stem Cell Biology Lab
Our research lab started working on signaling pathways in Oral Cancer and identified Notch 4 and TBX3 as metastatic markers of Oral Cancer. We also worked on the isolation and characterization of dental pulp derived stem cells and on stem cell markers. We also focussed on identifying mutations associated with Familial hypercholesterolemia..

Specifications
Biosafety Cabinet –Level II, Leica Inverted Microscope, CO2 incubator, Remi Centrifuge
PhD Projects completed:
1.Genetic and Molecular basis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia: Devising molecular diagnostic and cascade screening strategy in Indian population
2. Study on the expression of Notch4 receptor and its interaction with Myelin associated proteins (MAG) and T-box transcription factors in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)
3. Isolation and characterization of mesenchymal stem cells derived from human dental pulp
4. Nucleostemin: Delineating the expression and localisation pattern by in vitro and in vivo studies
1. Evaluation of nutraceuticals derived from indigenous millets for anti-tumorigenic activity and its action on the potential therapeutic targets, Notch4 and TBX3, in Oral Sqamous, Cell Cacinoma(OSCC)
2. Genetic and Molecular analysis of human Low Density Lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), Apolipoprotein B (APOB) and Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) genes in Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) patients of South Indian population
1. Delineating the role of GATA4 and BARX1 in modulating osteogenic differentiation in dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs)
2. Study to investigate the role of Jarid2 and EZH2 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)
3. Dental pulp stem cells derived exosomes and their role in oral squamous cell carcinoma progression and metastasis
1. Anti-hypercholesterolemic activity of Ocimum tenuiflorum and
Trigonella foenum-graecum in regulating LDLR expression and uptake of LDL in HepG2 cell line
2. A study on the nucleostemin expression in non-metastatic and metastatic cervical carcinoma cell lines
3. Identification Of Phospholipid Scramblase 1 As A Biomarker In Cancer Diagnosis
4. Isolation And Characterisation Of Ulforaphane From Knol-Khol (Brassica caulorapa) And Its Potential Effects On Cancerous Cell Line.
Profile
The role of genes in modulating osteogenic differentiation in dental pulp stem cells is also being researched. We also work on exosomes derived from dental pulp and their action on oral cancer.
