Proteomics Lab

Proteomics Lab

The proteome study consists of three steps: growing the desired cells, protein isolation, and analysis.

Proteome refers to the entire complement of proteins expressed by a genome, cell, tissue, or organism, which is studied by proteomics. To grow microbial and animal cells and further isolate the proteome, researchers and students are in need of an exclusive facility. In this regard, the laboratory has been organized in the Department of Biotechnology.

Specifications

Profile

The proteomics lab is carefully crafted with all the in-house facilities to do the same. The lab is equipped with independent laminar air flow from a microbial as well as an animal cell culture facility. Temperature-controlled incubators, CO2 incubators, and orbital shaker incubators are available to grow microbial or animal cells. For further protein isolation, a water bath sonicator, microcentrifuge, and colling centrifuge are available in the lab. For protein analysis, the lab is equipped with a western blot apparatus and 2D gel electrophoresis.
