Paediatrics Lab
Our paediatric lab is a fun space equipped with slide, ball pit, suspended equipment’s and sensorimotor activities that are used in paediatric occupational therapy set-up. Students with the help of this lab, experiment and learn standardised observations and assessments, evaluation and skilled techniques that are required for reasoning skills. Students interact with the equipment’s available at the lab and personally experience the impact on each sensory systems which mould their reasoning skills. They also learn body mechanics required for lifting, handling and positioning children with neuro-motor disorders like cerebral palsy, Hydrocephalus, Down’s syndrome, etc. Through demonstrations and supervisions, students are taught to understand the normal developmental patterns to understand the abnormality thereby enhancing the clinical and critical reasoning skills along with the application of paediatric occupational therapy models. We also use other learning methods like roleplay and drama to enact and analyse common behaviours exhibited by paediatric population. Through the application of Antecedent, Behaviour, Consequences Chart, students try to identify the triggers and strategies to manage the problem behaviours and to facilitate skilful behaviours.
