Food Analysis and Food Microbiology Laboratory

Food Analysis and Food Microbiology Laboratory

This laboratory is designed to study, analyze, and explore the world of microorganisms. The Stringent protocol is followed to prevent contamination and ensure sterility in all procedures. Experiments involve culturing microorganisms, isolation of pure culture, study of microbial pathogenesis, antibiotic assay, and different types of staining are performed by students. The facility is also used to observe and manipulate microbial activity to produce fermented food products like sauerkraut, wine, and fermented lemonade. Students experiment with different fermented products and observe how the experimental parameters influence the final product. The laboratory is also equipped with major equipment to analyze and detect contaminants in food, verify nutritional content, and assess overall food quality, including texture, flavor, and appearance. This is critical for ensuring that food products meet regulatory standards and consumer expectations.
