Electrical Mobility Research Laboratory (EMRL)

Electrical Mobility Research Laboratory (EMRL)

The Electric Mobility (E-Mobility) Research Laboratory (EMRL) was established in the year 2019-2020 under Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering designated user facility focused on performing research and development to support a wide array of EV integration and technology services. This Laboratory is specific for the Electric Vehicle Power System integration core area and its expertise in simulation, experimentation and integration of advanced vehicle technologies to offer new insights in the potential benefits of hybrid Electric, plug-in hybrid electric, and other advanced power-train vehicles.

The Laboratory comprises 920 sq. ft. facility that integrates an exclusively broad in space, addition to that comprehensive set of measuring equipment for the EV motor and charger evaluations. This Laboratory is predominantly established by external funding projects from DST SERB, Govt. of India and TNSCST, Govt. of Tamilnadu and equipped capital outlay of 21.3 Lakhs. The facility is dedicated to accelerating the pace of research and development for the new EV technology developments in motor control, EV chargers and battery management systems to creating economic opportunity by improving the energy efficiency of vehicles to support a robust transportation system.

This Laboratory demonstrates with up-to-date computing instruments to improve the innovation ability of students, research scholars and to collaborate with the industry personnel. It provides a platform for the research scholars in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering to share their knowledge. It also helps the post graduate students to understand the basic necessity in doing research and to acquire guidance from the experts in E-Mobility domains. Moreover, the lab also supports in hand-on sessions while conducting national/international short term training programs and workshops in the department.

We welcome collaborative research with the academia, Students Startups and the industries.
