Specifications
Children of varying clinical diagnosis facing difficulties in participating their ADL, play and leisure finds benefit and improvement through structured therapy. Paediatric unit provides the environment for children to experience different types of play, to facilitate and support their development. It has Multisensory environment, Developmental chats, Assessment specific to paediatrics and simulated environment, conditions like autism, CP, ADHD, down’s syndrome, Intellectual Deficit (ID).

Nature nurtures us so do sensory garden. Sensory garden have revitalized the health and life of children with sensory processing disorders like ASD. The garden stimulates all senses sight, touch, taste, sound all through different sensory inputs like plants, waterfall, drawings trampoline, slides, sensory pathway etc. These garden allow children's to explore their senses in a safe and stimulating environment. sensory garden serve as serene, calming oasis and assist in emotionally grounding children. Sensory garden acts as a bridge between child and therapist gives profound knowledge to therapist about the condition and how to utilise sensory in intervening the children and helps therapist in their career advancement in the field.

SRM ACE (Autism Centre of Excellence) is one of the first initiatives in a Medical College Hospital for children with autism. This centre was founded with the aim to provide all essential rehabilitation services including, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special education and psychology, all under one roof for children with autism.
The SRM-ACE (Autism Centre of Excellence) was founded and inaugurated on 24th August 2022 by our Founder Chancellor of SRMIST, Dr. T.R.Parivendhar, Member of Parliament, Prof. P. Sathyanaryanan, Pro Chancellor, Academics, Dr. Lt. Col. A. Ravikumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Medical and Health Sciences, Dr. U. Ganapathy Sankar, Dean, SRM College of Occupational Therapy and Dr. A. Sundaram, Dean MCH & RC at the SRM Medical Hospital.
Through these services, SRM ACE will be promoting the inclusion of children with autism in mainstream schools and independence in the community. The services provided in SRM ACE are free of cost, thus making it easier for parents and community members to avail for the optimum services required for the child with autism.
Occupational therapy is one of the prime professionals of the rehabilitation team that closely works with a person with autism. The overall goal of occupational therapy is to help people with autism improve their quality of life at home, in school and in the community. Occupational therapists provide interventions such as sensory integration therapy, behaviour modification, ADL training, cognitive-perceptual training, handwriting interventions, and social skill training. Occupational therapy interventions are child and family-centered, focusing on the needs of the child.
SRM ACE is an initiative made to spread awareness and promote equal inclusion of a child with autism in the community. The centre aspires to provide high-quality, responsive and accessible services, thus making a difference in the life of a child with autism and his/her family.
Orthopaedic unit focus on setting up therapeutic regimens for strengthening and improving joints range of motions, functional mobility training and prescription of assistive aids. Evaluation components specific to orthopaedic, ward round, varieties of acute cases. ADL training, pre and post prosthetic training, vocational training, energy conservation and work simplification strategies, joint protection techniques, muscle re-education and sensory re-education, wheel chair skills training
