Outward / Study Abroad
We believe that our students and faculty members deserve to benefit from enhanced academic experience at SRMIST. It is with this objective in mind that we have invested considerable resources and ongoing efforts to accrue to them unparalleled pan-India and global exposure.
We would like our students to make the best use of their time with SRMIST and therefore bring the world to them, quite literally. Learning now transcends national boundaries. In a world that is increasingly interconnected and interdependent, it is only fitting that a pioneering institution of higher learning like SRMIST provides opportunities to interact, work together, exchange and collaborate with counterparts across the world. This is possible through the outward mobility platform handled by us at International Relations at SRMIST and this covers mechanisms like semester abroad programme, dual degree programme and twinning program.
Semester Abroad
This initiative from SRMIST is a first of its kind and is highly appreciated by students. So far, 650 meritorious students have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to spend a semester at some of the best universities in the world such as – Carnegie Mellon, Northeastern University, SUNNY Buffalo, University of Wisconsin, UC Berkeley, George Mason, New Hampshire, Lille Catholic University, University of Western Australia, Western Ontario, Queen’s University and many others.
Twinning Programme
Twinning / Transfer programs allow SRM to offer Bachelors (UG) and Masters (PG) degree programs which will have their regular curricula. The existing curricula may be supplemented by additional curricula of the partnering universities if desired by SRM. Through twinning / transfer programs, SRM students will be able to earn several credits during the course of their normal study in SRM. Students will have the opportunity either to complete their studies in SRM or to transfer their credits to the partnering universities at any time after completing two year of their studies in SRM. Students, who opt for transfer, can then finish their degree programs by completing the remainder of credits in residence at the partnering universities.
Dual Degree Programme
A dual degree programme involves a student working for two different university degrees in parallel, either at the same institution or at different institutions, may be in different countries, completing them in less time than it would take to earn them separately. The two degrees might be in the same subject area or in two different subjects. The dual degree concept is more popular in European Union, as the gaining of qualifications from more than one country is seen as an advantage in the European labour market. India, after opening its higher education to private players, is seeing a growth in the dual degree programmes with foreign universities.
