World Space Week consists of space education and outreach events held by space agencies, aerospace companies, schools, planetariums, museums, and astronomy clubs worldwide in a common timeframe. It provides unique leverage in space outreach and education, Educates people worldwide about the benefits they receive from space, Encourages greater use of space for sustainable economic development, Demonstrates public support for space programs, and Excites young people about science, technology, engineering, and math. Every year, World Space Week is celebrated under a different theme to highlight an aspect of space with a broad appeal to humanity and inspire the next generation. This year’s theme is “Space & Climate Change”. In this regard, “SRM World Space Week 2024” will be celebrated with thousands of participants in over 90 countries. Eminent professors and scientists from the space science field have been invited for the expert lectures. Additionally, many events and competitions will be conducted for the engineering and school students as follows.
- Guest lectures
- CAD design competition. (A model worksheet will be provided. Any CAD Software can be used)
- Space Quiz
- Essay Writing Competition(Online Submission).
- Painting Competition (Online Submission). (Hand/Digital painting)
- Water Rocket Workshop & Competition (Free Registration. All required Materials will be provided)
- RC Plane Workshop & Competition (Spot Registration: Rs. 100 / Participant) (All required Materials will be provided )
Dates: 08.10.2024 / 09.10.2024 / 10.10.2024 (school can attend on any one convenient date from 8th to 10th October, 2024)

Free Registration for the following events
- Space Quiz (Offline) - One / Two per team
- Essay Writing Competition (The essay should be an unpublished, original essay in either English or Tamil. The word limit is approx. 1500 words. The writing sheets will be provided. The event's maximum duration is 60 minutes. Printed materials and electronic gadgets are prohibited)
- Poster Presentation - Participants must bring the prepared poster (Participants are required to bring the prepared poster. A1 size chart paper should be used for the poster. It should be original and handmade using pencil, crayon, watercolour, & oil paint. Photographs and printouts won't be acceptable. Participants must be able to explain the theme of the poster.)
- Painting Competition - Required stationery will be given. (A2 size chart paper and the necessary stationery (watercolour, etc.) will be provided during the event. Participants are not permitted to use their own stationery. The event's maximum duration is 60 minutes. Participants should be able to explain the theme of the painting.)
- SRMIST - Aerospace Department's Facility Tour.
- Drone Flight Demonstration
