Festival of Architecture and Built Environment – Traditional Exploration of Dakshin

The Festival of Architecture and Built environment (FAB) is an annual technical symposium conducted by the School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID), SRM Institute of Science & Technology. FAB’s legacy started in 2012 and has since looked into a myriad of topics such as sustainability, progressive architecture, architectural conservation, hospitality design, etc. It is a technical and cultural fest encompassing a wide range of lectures, competitions, and workshops by some of the most esteemed personalities in the field.

FAB–TED’23 (Festival of Architecture and Built Environment – Traditional Exploration of Dakshin) was conducted on the 20th, 21st & 22nd of February 2023 for the students, faculties, and professionals across India.

Fab’23 aims to take you on a journey through the cultures of Dakshin and bring out the traditional and ethnic uniqueness found in the regions of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. It seeks to conserve architectural character and integrity and strives to be an impactful nudge to revive the glory of tradition through vernacular practices and indigenous art forms. The event focuses on workshops and guest lectures based on the following sub-themes:

1.     Natural Heritage

2.     Material conservation and Resurrection

3.     Adaptive Reuse

4.   Revisiting the past – Recreation of visual imagery through cine sets.

5.     Tangible and Intangible aspects of Demigods.

This symposium aims to bring faculty members and students across the globe to a common platform to share their knowledge and ideas that would pave the way to attain solutions to various real-time problems. During the symposium, several keynote lectures and invited talks are planned with eminent resource persons from different fields practicing in India.
