AI Tools and English Proficiency for Professional Growth

An outreach program was conducted on April 5, 2025, at RCM Primary and High School, St. Thomas Mount, Chennai, focusing on enhancing professional communication, digital literacy, and foundational AI awareness among schoolteachers. A total of 48 teachers participated in the program, aimed at empowering educators through technology-integrated language skills.

The sessions were facilitated by Dr. A. John Joseph (Program Lead), Dr. Caleb Theodar M, and Dr. David T, from the Department of English and Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the school’s Headmistress, Rev. Sr. Mary Stella.

The program began at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome address by the Headmistress. The first session, titled “AI Tools for Academic Purposes,” was conducted by Dr. A. John Joseph from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. After a short tea break, the second session, “AI Tools for Non-Academic and Professional Productivity,” was led by Dr. Caleb Theodar M from 11:15 to 12:30 p.m. The final session, “English for Everyday Use,” was handled by Dr. David T, focusing on classroom English and addressing common challenges faced by Tamil medium educators.

The event concluded with a Q&A and feedback session. The Headmistress expressed appreciation for the SRMIST faculty’s efforts and highlighted the value of such collaborative initiatives. Certificates were distributed to participants who attended all sessions.
