Alumni are the soul of any institution a living legacy that inspires the present and shapes the future. The knowledge shared by our alumni from 2006 passed out batch of MOT has been immensely valuable to our current students. Their insights and experiences has provided a rich perspective that greatly enhances the academic journey for those studying here today.
The Alumni Talk Session was organized by SRM College of Occupational Therapy. The event was graced by the presence of Chief guest for the event, Respected Mr. Jayachandran Vetrayan, MOT, Msc (Psy), King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Science, Riyadh, Respected, Dr. U. Ganapathy Sankar sir, Dean of SRM College of Occupational Therapy and Mrs. Grace Lydia Sarojini ma’am, Vice principal, SRM College of Occupational Therapy, and Respected, Mr. D. Anbarasu, Associate Professor, Alumni Coordinator, SRM College of Occupational Therapy.
The Programme began with the welcome address by our respected Dr. U. Ganapathy Sankar, Dean, SRM College of Occupational Therapy, SRMIST followed by felicitation for the Chief guest Mr. Jayachandran, MOT, Msc (Psy), followed by elaborated discussion on professional components such as cultural competency, clinical observation, documentation, clinical exposure, and human ethics. He emphasized the importance of performance-based learning and the ability to transfer knowledge across different contexts, encouraging students to pursue continuous learning and develop core competencies. He also highlighted the evolving demands in the field, focusing on the integration of modern equipment, Artificial Intelligence in Intervention, emotional intelligence, and cognitive robotic modalities in occupational therapy.
Finally, the Vote of thanks was given by our respected Mr. D. Anbarasu sir, Associate Professor, Alumni Coordinator, at SRM College of Occupational Therapy.
The limelight of the event was the Interactive question and answer session of students with resource person. The session concluded with insights into international opportunities, particularly in the UAE, and the practical importance of combining theory with hands-on experience. Students gained valuable knowledge about global systems and advanced practices in occupational therapy, leaving them inspired and better informed about the career possibilities ahead.
