SRM College of Nursing, SRMIST – Kattankulathur Campus organized an impactful online alumni interaction session on 28th November 2023 as part of its ongoing Alumni Interaction Series. The event was attended by 100 B.Sc Nursing IV Year students and faculty members, with the objective of providing valuable insights into academic and career opportunities abroad, specifically in Canada. The session commenced with an invocation and a warm welcome address by Ms. Jenitha R., Tutor, followed by a special address from Dr. C. Kanniammal, Dean, who encouraged students to actively engage with alumni to better understand global career possibilities.
The guest speaker, Ms. Deepika V., a distinguished alumna from the 2020 batch of B.Sc Nursing, currently working as a Clinical Research Nurse and Clinical Extern in Canada, delivered an insightful talk titled “Placement and Higher Studies in Canada.” With her academic background, including an MBA in Hospital Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma, Ms. Deepika shared practical information on application procedures, educational pathways, and employment prospects for Indian nursing graduates in Canada. Her engaging presentation, marked by clear communication and well-structured content, was praised by students for offering clarity and relevance to their post-graduation planning.
The session received very positive feedback, with students describing it as neat, informative, and highly motivating. Many felt inspired to explore overseas education and global healthcare careers following the session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. V. Priya, M.Sc (N), Assistant Professor, and officially ended at 3:30 PM. This alumni engagement initiative served as a powerful reminder of SRM College of Nursing’s commitment to preparing students for international success and utilizing alumni as vital resources in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.
