Dr. Mohanakrishnan of SRMIST Honored with SDG Impact Award for Promoting Peace Through Sports

Dr. Mohanakrishnan, an esteemed academic from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, was honored with the prestigious SDG Impact Award for his groundbreaking contributions to peacebuilding through sports. The award was presented by the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) during the South Asia Summit on Education for Peace (SASEP) at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, on 24 March 2025.

The SDG Impact Award celebrates individuals and organizations making significant strides toward advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Mohanakrishnan received the award in recognition of his exceptional efforts to use sports as a vehicle for promoting peace, fostering social cohesion, and empowering youth. His work exemplifies the intersection of education, sports, and peacebuilding, demonstrating the transformative power of sports in addressing global challenges.

The award was presented by Dr. Kamaleswaran Jayarajah from the Secretariat of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). The South Asia Summit on Education for Peace (SASEP) brought together a diverse group of educators, policymakers, and youth leaders who are committed to advancing the SDGs, with a particular focus on education, peace, and sustainable development.
