SRM Institute of Science and Technology in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India has established this advanced research facility under the project “ SRM-DBT Partnership Platform for Contemporary Research Services and Skill Development in Advanced Life Science Technologies” with the mission to create intra, inter and co-disciplinary research platform to deliver the needs of the state of the art life science research. SRM-DBT Platform For Advanced Life Science Technologies demonstrates SRMIST’s commitment and forward-looking orientation to work together on projects that generate significant value. This is established in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. SRM DBT Platform is enriched by its highly qualified research-oriented faculty members as well as scholars and students. This is a great platform for students and scholars to benefit immensely.
The establishment and growth of the SRM-DBT Platform stands testament to the foresight and vision of our Founder & Chancellor Dr. T R Paarivendhar. SRMIST’s Leadership are always there to support academics and research of global standard and their encouragement is pertinent to the growth of our SRM-DBT Platform.
Facilities
The DBT Platform are state of art covering various specialty and frontier areas of research like Genomics, Proteomics, Molecular Platforms, Bio-Imaging and SPF Animal facility with many sophisticated instruments. This enables DBT to productively conduct its research as well as bring immense value to any counterpart research collaborator
SPF Animal facility
A Specific Pathogen Free Animal Facility (SAF) is established by SRM Institute of Science and Technology in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India under the project “SRM-DBT Partnership Platform for Contemporary Research Services and Skill Development in Advanced Life Science Technologies”.
The objective of SAF is to provide facility and resources for the researchers to conduct animal research studies, housing of laboratory animals, training researchers with strict adherence to the CPCSEA and in-house guidelines resulting in humane and ethical usage of laboratory animals.
Services
SRM-DBT Platform for Advanced Life Science Technologies is a National Core Facility with many sophisticated instruments under the project entitled, “SRM-DBT Partnership Platform for Contemporary Research Services and Skill Development in Advanced Life Sciences Technologies.”
The core facility’s purpose is to facilitate intra, inter and co-disciplinary state of the art life science research and promote skill development.
Programs Offered
Advanced PG Diploma
Advanced PG Diploma in Life Science Technologies is a one year course to be offered by the SRM-DBT Platform from July 2017. This course is aimed to produce highly skilled professionals to handle advanced laboratory equipments such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Mass Spectrometer, Digital PCR, Microarray, Fluorescent Microscope etc.
Publications
SRM DBT Platform conducts research in emerging areas of significance and often the findings and outcomes of our work are impactful at the grassroots. Our researchers are able to therefore publish high quality perspectives and research papers as well as present them at some of the best conclaves and other research fora. Our work is also documented by mainstream media and press in addition to technical research paper publications in high impact journals of national and international repute.
