About the Department
It is an exclusive section with faculty experts from Biochemistry and Crop Physiology with major emphasis in the areas of Stress Physiology, Nutrient & growth regulators, Functional Metabolites and Nutraceuticals of crops. The section offers courses to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of Agriculture and Horticulture.
Mission
To provide an insight about the importance of Biochemistry and Crop Physiology through an effective teaching-learning process and quality research with a student-centric approach.
To explore the metabolites of plants for multidisciplinary applications in health, environment and nutrition
To develop the crop based nutrio-hormonal formulation, understanding the stress tolerance mechanism, developing mitigation technologies towards sustainable agriculture.

The Section is dedicated to fostering the need for fundamental knowledge and the importance of Biochemistry and Crop Physiology to enhance the student’s ability in understanding the concepts of Agricultural Sciences.
The Section facilitates the students to advance their competency to become productive in Research and Development activities in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
The prime focus is on promoting interdisciplinary research to develop ideas, techniques, and products with wide range of applications in the diverse fields of science including nutrition, health, agriculture and environment.
The Faculty members are actively involved in research related to Stress management of Crops, Plant metabolites, Biochemical and ecological impact of nutrients on Crop yield, Bioinformatics, Plant derived Biopolymers.
