The School of Public Health, established in 2007, is a premier institution dedicated to advancing public health education, training, and research. The school nurtures competent and inspired public health professionals, health managers, health data scientists, biostatisticians and thought leaders through cutting edge education technology and experiential learning methods. The students here get the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects of the school and get hands on training and field exposure. At the School of Public Health, the faculty bring a wealth of field experience and relevant research into classroom, ensuring rigorous competency-based education. Through interdisciplinary coursework, hands-on learning opportunities, and collaborations with leading health organizations, we will prepare students to develop communication skills, project management skills, research and data analytics to grow professionally and contribute to improving health outcomes of populations.
Our Master of Public Health (MPH) and BSc-MPH integrated programs are designed for those who are interested in designing and managing health projects. The MSc–Biostatistics and Epidemiology program is for those with a keen interest in research and data analytics. The MSc–Health Data Science program is for those interested in use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithms, and cloud computing and big data analytics in healthcare domain.

Admission Procedure
Applications for Master programs are invited in January each year through a notification on the Institute’s website. Interested candidates need to register on the SRM website and appear for a written examination held in April and June. Qualified candidates proceed to an interview. Upon selection, candidates are required to submit the certificates and specified fee by a given date. Classes begin by mid-July.

Campus Life at SRMIST
The School of Public Health is located near Chennai at the Kattankulathur campus of the SRM Institute of Science & Technology.
The campus offers five hostels – three for girls and two for boys, where accommodation is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited availability, interested students are advised to book their accommodation immediately after enrollment. Additionally, many paying-guest accommodations are available in surrounding areas.

MPH graduates generally begin their professional journey with mid-level positions such as program officer or research officer in a national or international NGO, CSR initiatives, research organization, or government health department. Progressing in their careers, they ascend to state-level manager, eventually reaching national-level management positions. Some specialize in specific areas like Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation, Research, Community Mobilization, Advocacy, TB, HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Gender Equity, Environmental Health, Health Communication, Health Economics etc. Some students choose to pursue a Ph.D. and get into academia.
