About the Department

Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry is one of the prime units functioning in Natural Resource Management theme. A teaching and research department established in the College of Agricultural Sciences to undertake research and teaching programmes. The research works centered around soil resource investigations in command areas, Soil resource Inventory, Manures, Fertilizers, Plant chemistry and INM and Soil testing fertilizer recommendation.

  • Soil fertility, Soil profile data base and mapping for SRM CAS farm to find the best suitable crop.
  • Carbon dioxide sequestration is the global need to fight global warming and create sustainable agriculture – Miyawaki Plantation could be one of the solution.
  • Circular economy – Soil amelioration through agricultural wastes of SRM CAS farm
