The Centre for Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) is a professional centre in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM IST. This pioneering centre will focus on Academic, Research, Outreach and Enterprise in the domain of Industrial Safety and Environmental Health. The Centre is fashioned to provide a quality and practical oriented knowledge to the society in the field of Occupational Safety and health. The Centre works on hub and spoke model which aims to link with many departments within the University including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Health and Medical Sciences etc.

This trans-disciplinary interaction and scope within the University provides the students, researchers and faculty a multi-dimensional learning experience. As a Safety mandate for Industries, COSH is capable of developing tailor-made course to the various Industries and courses can be conducted at their industrial location itself. The Centre will function and orient toward the attainment of UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Centre undertakes research projects and consultancies for the National and International Agencies.
