About the Department

The Department of Hindi, Faculty of Science and Humanities, started in 2003 to offer General. Hindi is an optional language for the students of B.Sc Biotechnology. In 18 years, it has grown to offer General Hindi courses for all First Year Undergraduate students. Currently, it provides lessons in twenty-one Departments. The faculties of the Department care for the language learning by the Undergraduate students and are actively involved with the research works.
The Department offers a wide range in the syllabus, including Hindi Literature and Grammar and Translation Studies. This provides a broad scope for the students to enhance the language and equip themselves for translation, media, and press and in IT sectors for content writing. Special coaching is given to the students who are not from a Hindi background but have taken Hindi as their optional language. Besides focusing on the curriculum, the Department actively involves in other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities through its Hindi Literary Club called “Tejas.” It conducts various National camps, National & International seminars, World Hindi Day, Prakram Diwas, Hindi Fortnight, Women’s Day, workshops, and conferences to enrich the student’s knowledge. Inter-department, intra-department, and inter-collegiate competitions are conducted to showcase the various skills of the students.
Department of Hindi helps the students to become good citizens and great team workers.

Vision

Classroom debates and assignments on current topics would further enhance their love for the It is always right to keep the current topics in mind, of any field-be it music, film, books and painting. etc- and get the students to present their views in any form of (writing or short dramas)

Translation of works from other languages, to Hindi, could be encouraged. Stress should be on learning technical terms and the syllabus should be so framed that it is graded from simple words to complex ones.

Fluency in the spoken language, with a fair knowledge of grammar, will certainly help the students. The faculty should bear this in mind and keep dinning it to the students.

Mission

The faculty must be able to understand the language of the State, Tamil and help the students to overcome the barrier of learning Hindi.

Stress as to be laid on Spoken and written Hindi. The Faculty has to make the students write short pieces and thereby help in their Confidence growth.

The faculty could work on the grammar, listening, reading and learning techniques and try to find simple means to help in learning Hindi an enjoyable process.

Good morning! Namaste! On behalf SRM Institute of Science and Humanities, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all. I’m delighted to see you here. A special welcome to those of you who are on campus for the first time. I hope you will discover a lively, challenging, diverse, and warm community.
To you parents, I look forward to getting to know the exceptional young people you have raised, and to helping provide a rich array of opportunities for them to learn, to grow, to discover who they are, and how they want to make a difference in the world.
To you students of the class of 2022, welcome! I’m here to say a few introductory words about the Hindi Department of this University and the intellectual adventure you are about to undertake.

Programs Offered

Ph.D

PhD Program in Hindi with the following Research areas: Folk Literature, Transgender, Travel Literature, Children’s Literature, Women’s Literature, Diaspora Literature, Modern Poetry, Comparative Literature, Hindi Drama.

Researchers & Research Topics

Research must be an ongoing process. It can apply to the faculty and the students. The students can be encouraged to proceed with higher studies in Hindi which would lead them to research work.

Students must be encouraged to take up jobs in places where Hindi is Spoken. They should be told the advantages and the learning growth thereof.

The faculty must in still in the student s the consciousness that we have all got to work together and share our knowledge.

A good knowledge of more than two or three languages would certainly please the company that appoints him, and also help the student to widen his horizon.
