The Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering was started in the year 2007-08. The scope of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is vast and is fast growing to cater the needs of manufacturing and process automation industries. The Department has been accredited by the IET accreditation board (UK) and has been recognized by the IASC – Sector Skill Council – Affiliated to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India in 2018.
The department houses IoT Innovation lab sponsored by Edgate Technologies, under Texas Instruments University Program (TIUP), AI Digital Twin club, LabVIEW club and ARDUINO club to give practical training to current academic student batches for their upskill development. As a result, the department has maintained a track record of 85% placement till 2021 batch and a striking 100% placement of batch 2022. A strong alumni network of about 2500 students have been formed and about 300+ Alumni have successfully completed SAP program in various prestigious institutions (UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Taiwan, San Diego, Illinois to name a few).

The Department was started in the year 2007. The Department offers Undergraduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG) and Ph.D. degree programmes. The Department has been accredited by the IET accreditation board (UK) and has been recognized by the IASC – Sector Skill Council – Affiliated to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India in 2018.
The department has strong collaboration with industries for knowledge sharing, internships and placements. We have established a Center of Excellence in Factory Automation in Collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, India.
We believe that a strong correlation between best teaching practices and excellent research can enhance the holistic development of student towards a deep learning from basic principles to in depth knowledge. Our department maintains active research groups for carrying our collaborative and interdisciplinary research. We have state of the art research facilities to support our academic programs and research.
The curriculum is designed to make the students “industry ready” to face the demands of ever changing industrial needs. This industry-readiness and relevance of skills will attract better career opportunities for the students.

The course on industrial automation is more of interdisciplinary program and it requires the knowledge of programming skills and hardware assembly. This program combines the academic and motor skills necessary for process automation, factory automation and building automation. Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd is the industry knowledge partner for this certification programme.
The Department has undertaken various consultancy assignments for the SRM medical
college. It maintains strong ties with hospitals, industry and other academia.
Students undertake collaborative research with CSIR-CEERI Labs, Indira Gandhi
Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Biosignals Lab, RMIT University,
Australia etc. as well as with several industries.
Placement assistance and rigorous training are given to all students to get selected in core companies like HUL, Siemens Tech, ABB, KPIT, Schneider Electric, Phillips, HUL, L&T, Valeo India and Sterlite Technologies. EIE students also get selected by top-notch IT companies like CTS, TCS, Infosys, and Wipro. One of our 2022 batch students who got selected by Optum India was offered the highest CTC of 14 LPA. The placement record of the 2022 batch is 100% , which was made possible by tremendous efforts taken by the placement team, students and faculty.

One of our students, Mr. Puranjay Mohan (RA1811035010019), received an offer from Amazon Germany for an embedded systems- Linux kernel development role, with a whopping CTC of one crore per annum ( 1 Lac + emoluments in Euros). The student has also received a Pre-Placement Offer from Texas Instruments, Bangalore. He has been offered a CTC of 33 LPA by Texas Instruments.
