It is a proud moment to mention SRMIST is the first Indian university to start Marine Technology Student Chapter in India on August 22nd, 2016. Dr. R. Venkatesan is the Secretary and Mr. R. Nandakumar is the Treasurer of MTS India Section. Dr.J.Preetha Roselyn/Associate Professor, EEE Department is the faculty mentor for the SRM Chapter. EEE Department leads the chapter in conducting all the events in SRM IST. The SRM chapter is awarded with MTS Outstanding student section award for the year 2019 in United States of America based on its superior performance in the advancement of the society’s objectives including electrical engineering applications in marine sciences and societal benefit activities. SRM MTS Student Chapter has overcome the competitions from international student chapters like Massachusetts Inst of Technology, University of Washington, North Carolina State University etc., The chapter has active 35 student members and a faculty mentor. The chapter is very active in organizing many technical workshops, competitions for college and school students, school awareness camp in marine related fields and latest technical developments. The student chapter members are awarded with 6 International scholarships for SRM student member during the past 3 years. The chapter has actively volunteered in many activities arranged by MTS INDIA SECTION.
