Economics is a widely welcomed course by all established universities all around the world. At SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Economics has been offered since 2009 imparting quality education and conducting in-depth research relating to various aspects of economics.
SRMIST is the first University to start a B.Sc. in Economics in South India. Economics as a science program, demands a specialized audience with an interest and passion that can be extrapolated into various aspects of economics. A dynamic curriculum in consonance with academics and industry experts allows the students to master new skills and explore diverse perspectives and emphasizes practical learning through case studies, live projects, practice sessions with industry experts, etc.
The department is working with the vision of developing critical thinking about the economic conditions of the country as well as the entire world among the students so that they are equipped with techniques to find solutions for the day-to-day economics activities, apart from the conventional classroom setup which impacts training in the field of Economics, Applied Econometrics through regular programs and workshops.
B.Sc. Economics of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, focuses on a wide range of interdisciplinary subjects, in addition to major courses, such as Statistical Methods, Basic Econometrics, Experimental Economics, Behavioural Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics, Actuarial Science, Health Economics, Energy Economics, Computer for Economics, Game Theory, Foundations of Data Science, Econometric Analysis using R, Applications of SQL – RDBMS in Economics, Economic Journalism, Geoeconomics, Law and Economics.
The ultimate goal of this program is to prepare students for successful careers in the field and impart advanced knowledge and understanding of economic studies. Eminent resource persons from various reputed institutions and industrial experts are invited to expose the students to the latest advancements in the research and industrial front. The multi-disciplinary subjects would provide broader exposure to the course is more beneficial to students who want to succeed in competitive life.
