Occupational Therapy is a healthcare profession that enables people of all ages to be independent in their day-to-day activities. SRM College of Occupational Therapy was started in the academic year 1996 under the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. In the year 2004, the college was brought under the ambit of SRM University, and the same year Postgraduate program was started. SRM College is the only occupational therapy college to offer BOT, MOT, and PhD programs in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the colleges in South India which is recognized by the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA), the National Governing body of the profession and World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), the apex professional body worldwide, and accredited by NAAC with graded A++. These recognitions give a distinct advantage of being accepted at par in the world of medicine, which allows students to seek higher studies or employment in abroad.
Occupational Therapy in SRM is committed to guiding our students through a distinct learning process that allows the individual student to think, evaluate their own learning styles and experience learning through civic engagement in emerging practice areas and service-learning opportunities. We provide our students with exceptional opportunities to learn and grow as they transition from the classroom to successful careers in Occupational Therapy.
100% Job placement is guaranteed for students who graduate every year in BOT and MOT. 80% of our graduates are well placed in countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Middle East. We have well-equipped clinical setup & research facilities. Tie up facilities for clinical training is being provided in major corporate hospitals such as SIMS Hospital, Vadapalani and other organizations such as NIEPMD at Muttukadu, Right Hospital, MDA – a special school for Dyslexia. Students of SRM College of Occupational Therapy have been placed in overseas for clinical placement at Latrobe University, Australia. Campus placement is done for USA & India through our SRM placement cell for major hospitals and companies. Community outreach program is carried out in villages in and around Kattankulathur where our faculty and students conduct Disability Survey and Health Education to provide Occupational Therapy intervention at doorstep.

Occupational Therapy profession provides a wide array of career options and avenues for specialization. We take great pride in the opportunities to secure placements in various countries such as the UK, Qatar, Dubai, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. These achievements stand as a testament to the dedication and hard work of our graduates, showcasing their efforts in advancing the profession on a global scale. Our undergraduate alumni, were placed in the Jewel Autism Centre, Kerala and have also successfully secured positions in various hospitals and private therapy centers across India, with salaries averaging Rs. 6.6 lakhs per annum for BOT Graduates and Rs. 9 lakhs per annum for MOT Graduates.
We proudly would like to acclaim our recent accomplishment that in 2023, 15 of our PG students were placed in USA – Ed Theory, a top- ranked California-based company with a whopping salary package of 70,000 to 72,000 USD (approx. Rs. 58 lakhs per annum), 77 alumni are placed in UK under NHS Trust and more than 20 are placed in Middle East Countries. Furthermore, our alumni have exemplified exceptional initiative and drive by not only establishing entrepreneurial ventures across different states but also pursuing academic roles in various sectors.
