Panel Discussion
Dr. R. Senthilnathan, Professor and Head of the Centre for Immersive Technologies at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, participated in a panel discussion as part of the IEEE SPS Sponsored Forum: Industry-Academia Conclave on “Transforming Experiences – AR/VR Technologies in Education,” organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Avadi, Chennai.
The panel also included Dr. S. Pravin Kumar (SSN College of Engineering), Mr. Vishnu T U (CEO & Co-Founder, ALLREAL – Machenn), and faculty members from the host institution. The discussion focused on the evolving role and adoption of XR technologies in the education sector.
Guest Lecture
Dr. R. Senthilnathan, Professor and Head of the Centre for Immersive Technologies at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, delivered a technical talk titled “Understanding Virtual Reality from a System Integrator’s Perspective” on 20th February 2025. The session was organized by the Department of Production Technology, MIT Campus of Anna University, Chennai, as part of the 25th-year celebration of the M.E. Mechatronics program.
In his address, Dr. Senthilnathan shared insights into the practical aspects of integrating virtual reality systems, highlighting real-world challenges and solutions in immersive technology development. The event brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals to celebrate the legacy and future of Mechatronics education.
Board of study Meeting
The University Board of Studies is scheduled to be held on 20th March 2025 at 11:30 a.m. to finalize the syllabus for the B.Voc. Immersive Technology programme, which will be offered by the University Departments starting from the academic year 2025–2026.
This programme is designed to provide students with hands-on training and interdisciplinary knowledge in cutting-edge areas such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). The Board will include academic and industry experts who will contribute to shaping a curriculum aligned with current trends and industry requirements, fostering future-ready professionals in the immersive technology space.
