SRMIST has consistently ranked amongst the top-ranking multi-stream universities in India and abroad, with a vision to impart quality education that ensures the products of Law school stand par excellence. School of Law, SRMIST offers quality legal education in Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and Diploma programs as well as Certificate Courses and Value Added Courses which are focused on developing legal knowledge in a wide variety of legal areas. SRM School of Law takes pride in developing and executing a strong curriculum and pedagogies that have been framed; keeping up contemporary standards and expectations. Placements and internships are strongly facilitated, due to which, the alumni of SRM School of Law have made us proud by occupying coveted positions in different fields. SRM School of Law has a rich legacy, having completed a decade of its establishment, and making significant strides towards excellence.

SRM School of Law was inaugurated in 2014 by the Honorable Chief Judge of the Supreme Court of Maryland, Mary Ellen Barbara along with the judicial delegates from the State of Maryland, USA which was led by the First Lady of State, Katie O’Malley. The School ties up with many foreign universities and institutions, which incorporates a rich exchange of knowledge and research activities. SRM Law School conducts two National-level Moot Court competitions annually in which students from different parts of the country take part. The industry-academic interface is a major part of teaching pedagogy. Today’s lawyer is supposed to have exposure to different disciplines like science & technology, from medicine to literature, and from arts to sports, SRMIST is a leader in all! Being a multidisciplinary university, law students enjoy the exclusive scope of exposure to other streams of learning added to the law. The multicultural atmosphere of the campus provides a great opportunity for the students to know different cultures as students from different parts of India and the world are studying here. The environment-friendly green campus adds additional energy to the atmosphere here at SRM. Hostel facilities with high-quality hygienic food, personal care, and safety make the students feel that they are not away from their homes. Students’ talents in sports and cultural activities are well recognized through special scholarships and training that propel students to excel in their respective areas of interest. NCC and NSS schemes are active on the campus. Care is taken to shape the overall personality of the students with special importance on character building apart from professional competence. At SRM, Students get to interact with great achievers like Judges, Advocates, Civil Servants, and other eminent public personalities throughout their academic journey. Dean's Message

Greetings to all students, colleagues, and members of the non-teaching staff!

SRM School of Law has completed 10 years of its existence and has made a name for itself with contributions from its students, teachers, and non-teaching staff under the leadership of earlier Deans.

I believe in the vision of SRM School of Law as an institution of academic excellence having tremendous potential to be among the best in the country. In addition, I believe that SOL will also be an institution committed to community service instilling in its students the values of professional ethics, social responsibility, and inclusiveness in addition giving them legal knowledge and skills necessary for success in their chosen career paths.

The vision of SOL is to maintain high academic standards, develop innovative pedagogy, and industry-linked global curriculum. SOL aims to impart knowledge but inculcate values so that our students can contribute towards achieving social, political and economic justice.

I am sure that students of SOL will make their place in the country by their legal acumen, social sensitivity, and their commitment to promote constitutional morality of the Constitution of India with guidance from the teachers and support from the non-teaching staffs.

Students seeking Undergraduate (BA. LL. B  or B.Com LL. B or LL. B) and Post Graduate (LL.M) Programs at SRMIST shall experience high-quality education in Law, with experienced faculty members, well-designed curriculum, and modern teaching methodologies.

The student shall have the following pathways for their Learning, to cater to the diverse needs and career goals of aspiring lawyers.

  1. Electives which are designed to meet the modern requirements in Law.
  2. Specialization in Cyberlaw, Corporate Law, International Trade Law and in various other niche areas of law, with specific career interests.
  3. Each student shall experience perspectives into the curriculum, such as combining law with business, technology, or public policy, that appeal to students interested in exploring diverse career paths, with robust career support services, including job placement assistance, resume workshops, and networking events.
  4. Opportunities for experiential learning available, such as moot court competitions, mock trials, or negotiation simulations, help students develop practical skills and gain real-world experience.
  5. Experience opportunities for international study, exchange programs, or coursework focusing on global legal issues can attract students interested in practicing law on a global scale.

Teaching & Learning Excellence

SRM School of Law goes beyond textbooks. Our curriculum emphasizes real-world scenarios with practical application through case studies, simulations, and client-counseling exercises. This prepares students to be practice-ready from day one.

To hone legal minds, the School actively participates in and hosts national-level moot court competitions. These competitions simulate courtrooms, giving students invaluable experience in legal research, persuasive writing, and oral arguments.

Recognizing the globalized legal field, SRMIST fosters collaborations with foreign universities. This exposure to diverse legal systems broadens student horizons and prepares them for an interconnected world.

The Career Center in SRM Institute of Science and Technology plays a vital role in making SRM a favored destination for many national and international organizations to recruit fresh talent nurtured at the Institute. Continuous institute-industry interaction, pre-joining learning initiatives, participating in industrial exhibitions, fairs, seminars to promote useful interaction with the industries and alumni activities are some of the initiatives of Placement Office.
