I welcome students from all parts of the country and abroad, who have chosen SRMIST to pursue their under graduation, post-graduation and doctoral programmes. The mission of the institution is to emerge as a World – Class University in creating and disseminating knowledge, and providing students a unique learning experience in Science, Technology, Medicine, Management, Law, Agriculture and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the world and betterment of mankind. The institution is also dedicated to impart quality and value-based education in the true sense. To do so, the curriculum is updated regularly and modified by both industry and external experts from leading national and international institutions as well as regulatory authorities.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology,has been accredited with the highest-grade A++ in its 4th Cycle by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) for the period 16.06.2024 – 15.06.2031 (7 years).  It is another feather on SRMIST’s cap as it prides over being awarded the highest grade for three consecutive cycles dating back to 2013.  The MHRD-UGC has classified SRMIST as Category I, with a status of 12 B. ABET (www.abet.org) has recognized five engineering undergraduate programmes at the Kattankulathur campus, while IET has approved four more engineering undergraduate programmes (UK). In 2020, NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) placed SRMIST 35th nationwide in the Universities Category. The World rating agencies such as QS (UK) and Times Higher Education also rate the institution on a regular basis.

Biography

Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan is the Vice Chancellor for SRM Institute of Science and Technology. He is a professor in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with over 180 research publications. He has been recognized as an Honorable Guest Professor in the Shizuoka University, Japan since April 2014. He has been associated with SRM Group since its inception and has served in various academic and administrative roles.

He has led the institution on international and national accreditation processes like ABET (USA), IET (UK) and NAAC. He is forward looking in the technology adoption and e-governance initiatives in the Academic environment.

He is widely networked with the academic leaders across the world and associated with the various professional bodies and also serves in key positions. He is a Fellow of IET, UK and also holds positions as a Member India Development Panel, IET, India, an Executive Committee Member of Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata, Certified Member of Management and Leadership Education, Harvard University.

He also heads the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and has been instrumental in the creation of the SRM Innovation and Incubation Centre (SIIC). The SIIC and the IIC fosters the culture of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Institution and play a vital role in encouraging student and faculty startups.
