The Department of English and Foreign Languages conducted a one-day Seminar under EFL Conclave, Season I, on “Fathoming the Depths of English Language and Literature” on 6 October 2022. Dr L. Kavitha Nair, Head of the Department, was the event convener, and it was coordinated by Dr M. Alagesan and Dr K. Ezhil. The First session was honoured by Dr V. Rajagopalan, former Professor and Head of the English Department, MCC, and present Dean, SSKV College of Arts and Science for Women, Kanchipuram gave an elaborate talk on Literary Aesthetics. His enthusiastic talk and the QA session uniquely enlightened the audience. The second session focused on the Representation of Women and Gender Roles in Literature. Dr G. Bhuvaneshwari, Associate Professor and Head, VIT Chennai, gave an attractive and fascinating presentation and answered the queries related to gender issues. The third and final event session is adorned by Dr K. Ganesh, former Professor and Head of the English Department and present visiting faculty, at the University of Madras, with his enlightening presentation on Language, Culture and Literature. The discussion after the session was so elaborate that it clarified every doubt raised by the audience. Participants from different Universities and states made the event huge. On the whole, the event was a promising one which created the best hope for the audience to have more similar events in the future for research development and creative writing.
