The One Day Online Faculty Development Programme on “New Trends in Teaching English for Engineering Students” was conducted by the Department of English and Foreign languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, on 10th December 2021. The first session was by Dr. V. Karthika, Asst. Prof. NIT, Trichy on strategies for enhancing academic writing skills. The session focused on various strategies to improve the academic writing skills of the students. In the second session Prof.. G. Suvarna Lakshmi , Dept. of ELT, EFL University, discussed the use of technology in English classrooms. The speaker elaborated on different online platforms such as Padlet, Kahoot, Jamboard etc., for the interactive and effective teaching and learning. In the third session, Dr. Jagadish S. Joshi, Prof and Director, Gujarat University, enlightened the audience on latest trends in teaching English for Engineers. The last session was on “Teaching Grammar in the communicative Framework by 4. Dr. N. P. Sudharshana, Assistant Professor, IIT Kanpur.
Almost 100 faculty members from various colleges participated and we received excellent feedback from the participants. Faculty members participated enthusiastically throughout the programme . The FDP was insightful and beneficial to the participants.
