Dr. K. Ramani, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology Receives Tamil Nadu Women Young Scientist

Dr. K. Ramani, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering has been awarded Tamil Nadu Women Young Scientist Award in the field of Environmental Sciences by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.

She joined the department in 2012 as a faculty member after obtaining her Ph. D. from Environmental Technology Division, CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI), Chennai in 2011 and has an industry-funded project on the upgradation/performance improvement of the biological waste-water treatment plant.

Dr. Ramani has published 15 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of treatment of industrial waste-water using various technologies such as chemoautotrophic activated carbon catalytic oxidation, Fenton’s activated carbon catalytic oxidation, electrocatalytic oxidation, etc. She also holds two patents for her work in these fields.
