In a remarkable display of skill and strategic brilliance, Mr. Mohammed Anees (RA2452001040016), MBA (2nd Year) student from the Faculty of Management, SRMIST-KTR (well known as International Master), has clinched the Gold Medal at the Chairman’s Trophy – SRM 3rd International FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2025, held at the SRMIST Kattankulathur campus.

The tournament, held on July 13, 2025, featured an intense contest of intellect and endurance, with 609 players participating from 4 countries and 9 Indian states. The event drew a stellar field, including 1 Grandmaster, 4 International Masters, and an impressive lineup of 327 FIDE-rated players, making it one of the most competitive editions to date.

Adding to SRMIST’s glory, International Master (IM) Senthilmaran, an esteemed alumnus of the Institution, secured the Silver Medal, reinforcing the institution’s legacy of nurturing top-tier chess talent.

The tournament highlighted both individual excellence and SRMIST’s commitment to promoting global-standard sporting events on campus. The performances of IM Mohammed Anees and IM Senthilmaran serve as a testament to the university’s dedication to both academic and sporting excellence.
