Minor Degree in Biosustainability
The minor in biosustainability curriculum is designed to prepare engineering students to pursue a career in industries that place emphasis on sustainable processes and products that are renewable, biocompatible, and biodegradable by nature. The courses examine the role of biochemical technology, bio-based materials, ecosystem management, and circular economy strategies in promoting long-term ecological balance. These will find applications in diverse fields such as medicinal drugs, agriculture, waste management, textiles, automotive, energy conversion, and consumer products. This has led to the demand for prospective engineering employees that also possess a strong background in bio sustainable processing technologies. This program aims to introduce new skill-sets to engineering students to support the transformation from conventional and often unsustainable industrial methods to a sustainable bio-based industrial processes and products.
