Nutrisafe Student Club
About the Club
The Nutrisafe Student Club was inaugurated on 28th March 2025 in the Department of Food Process Engineering. The objective of the club is to educate students and community on the importance of balanced diet and educate the community on hygienic and safe food handling practices for preventing life style diseases and create awareness on reducing food wastage and repurposing leftovers. The student club can play a crucial role in raising awareness on public health, safer eating habits and greater understanding of food safety and nutrition. The scope of the club can encompass various activities, initiatives, and programs aimed at educating and engaging individuals, particularly students or community members, about the importance of healthy eating habits, proper food handling, and food-related health issues. Collaborations with health departments and food safety organizations will enhance learning. Additionally, students will engage in research, industry connections, and field experiences like inspections and lab work. The initiative also explores new technologies in food preservation and sustainable packaging, ensuring a comprehensive approach to food safety and nutrition education.

Vision
To empower communities with knowledge on food nutrition for promoting wellness and educate them on safe and healthy food practices with sustainable use of food resources to reduce food wastage. Its aim to build a generation of leaders dedicated to improving public health and fostering sustainable food practices. The student club can play a crucial role in raising awareness on public health, safer eating habits and greater understanding of food safety and nutrition
Mission
- To raise awareness about the role of nutrition in preventing lifestyle diseases, encouraging balanced diets, physical activity, and informed healthy food choices.
- To educate and empower students and the community on safe food handling practices through hands-on experiences, awareness initiatives, and collaboration.
- To educate the community on effective strategies for reducing food waste, including proper storage and creative ways to repurpose leftovers.
- To connect with professionals for sharing knowledge, and engaging in research and strive to create a positive impact on public health and inspire future leaders in the fields of food safety and nutrition.

Events Conducted
- Technical Events were conducted on 28th March 2025 for the members of the Nutrisafe club and winners were awarded with certificates
- Food Wastage Awareness Campaign was conducted in SRMIST Hostel in association with Directorate Hostel to reduce the increasing food wastage in Hostel Mess from 22nd April to 25th April 2025.
