Sahitya 2.0, organized by the Zephyr Literary Guild under the Department of English and Foreign Languages at SRMIST, was a vibrant two-day celebration of literature and creativity held on 23-24 October 2024. Inaugurated by Prof. A. Vinay Kumar and Dr. L. Kavitha Nair, the event featured renowned personalities like author Dr. Meena Kandasamy, LGBTQ activist Kalki Subramaniam, and accent coach Shreekanth KG on Day 1. Dr. Kandasamy delivered a talk on “Writing in the Age of AI,” while Subramaniam shared her personal journey as a transwoman. Accent coach Sreekanth KG discussed his experience with learning and teaching English. On Day 2, poet Priyanshu Modi opened with a performance of his poem followed by National award-winning filmmaker Shankhajeet De’s session on filmmaking and scriptwriting. The day concluded with popular novelist Ravinder Singh’s discussion on storytelling and the emotional depth of literature. The valedictory session featured the felicitation of the speakers and winners of various competitions, including a treasure hunt and the street play “The Characters that Never Met.” The poetry anthology “Verses Unbound” from the Department of EFL featuring contributions from the faculty members and students of SRMIST was successfully released on 24th October during the valedictory session. The Theatre Tribe performed “The King with Donkey Ears,” marking the end of an enriching festival celebrating literature and artistic expression.
